SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - MAHENDRA SCHOOL

Since 2011 oHoH has been involved in Mahendra school with our "Scholarship Program oHoH" (SPO). The goal of our SPO is to enable children to attend school.

When we started our work at the Mahendra school, the school had almost ceased to exist. It only had 15 students. Part of the building was nothing more than a few walls. There was no working toilet. Salaries had not been paid for a couple of months. So our help was desperately needed.

We commissioned the school and started our SPO. In no time we had 15 children enrolled in our program, while two years later this had increased to 30 students. The school roll grew steadily from 15 to more than 60 students. However, commissioning the school also meant that oHoH had to pay all the bills, including the teachers' salaries. Financially, this became too much for oHoH. In 2015 we started talks with Mahendra Community School about a merger. In 2016 the two schools merged to reduce operating costs for both of them.

As of September 2016 there are more than 80 students attend at Mahendra school and this number is still increasing steadily. Fifteen students are enrolled in our scholarship program.

If you want to help us by sponsoring a child please check out the scholarship pages to get more information about the program. Press the button below or go to "Scholarship" in the menu bar.
